NCAA Football News and Notes: Odds To Win 2021 NCAA CFB Playoff

It is not surprising in the least that Alabama is the current odds leader to win the 2021 College Football Playoff. The crazy thing about that is Alabama hasn't won back-to-back championships since the 2011-2012 season, so are they really a good bet to repeat in 2021?

Alabama Crimson Tide +300

These odds are not a great value. You are betting $100 to win $300 on a team to win consecutive championships. Something that just doesn't happen all that often.

That is not to say Alabama isn't a great team with awesome returning players. It is just really hard to win back-to-back championships in any sport. Some call it a "championship hangover," but Alabama will still likely be in the College Football Playoff in 2021 and put themselves in a position to win another Championship under head coach Nick Saban.

Clemson Tigers +400

Of course, Clemson would be right here. Other than Alabama, no other school is in the College Football Playoff as often as Dabo Swinney's Tigers.

They have a quarterback in D.J. Uiagelalei who might be even better than Trevor Lawrence was, and Lawrence is about to go No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

This team is loaded, and the ACC just isn't great. Clemson should roll their way through the regular season into another College Football Playoff field. The odds aren't a great return, but it might be a safe bet to put some money on.

Oklahoma Sooners +750

Now, these odds are getting more appealing to me. I can bet $100 on Oklahoma winning the College Football Playoff and get a return of $750? Sign me up.

I will gladly put money on Heisman Trophy favorite Spencer Rattler to lead the Sooners to a National Championship. The Sooners are loaded, and Rattler enters his Sophomore season read to prove he is even better than advertised last year.

The biggest hurdle for Oklahoma will be getting past Iowa State in the Big XII. Like Oklahoma, the Cyclones return a lot of key players on offense and will be a high-scoring machine as well.

I love Oklahoma's odds here and would probably get in on this before Vegas gets smarter and sees how Rattler can change the betting field for this group.

Iowa State Cyclones +2200

I always like to see who has tremendous odds value down the list. A team no one is really considering who could kind of pop out of nowhere to take home the National Championship.

I know that it is rather unlikely to be any team than the three mentioned above to win the College Football Playoff, but for the money, I really like Iowa State at +2200.

Quarterback Brock Purdy returns for his Senior season, and right behind him in the backfield will be the returning leading rusher in all of college football, Breece Hall.

Breece Hall is a darkhorse Heisman Trophy candidate in my book and is a Derrick Henry-like monster on the ground. Purdy does enough to keep the offense going and doesn't turn the ball over much.

I like the Cyclones as a darkhorse College Football Playoff champion if they can get past Spencer Rattler and the Oklahoma Sooners in the Big XII.
