NFL News: Broncos Down All Quarterbacks Against Saints

As we head into Sunday of Week 12 in the NFL, COVID-19 has hit another team, a head coach and general manager were fired, and the Miami Dolphins will be making another quarterback change.

Denver Loses All Four Quarterbacks Due To COVID-19 Exposure

The Denver Broncos were notified of a positive COVID-19 test that eliminated all of their quarterbacks from this week's game as they were deemed "high risk" exposures. None of them will be able to compete in Sunday's home game against the Saints.

This leaves the Broncos in quite a pinch at the position. They called up undrafted rookie Kendall Hinton from their practice squad to fill in under center. Hinton has spent his time in the NFL as a converted wide receiver, so he hasn't even been taking professional snaps at the quarterback position.

The Broncos also have another option to take snaps with third-string running back and emergency quarterback, Royce Freeman.

The Saints now have a clear advantage in this game, and it is bizarre the NFL has not moved the game until testing can be completed on the Denver quarterbacks. It will be interesting to see if this game actually kicks off at the scheduled 4:05 ET time.

Detroit Fires Coach, GM

The Detroit Lions parted ways with head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn on Saturday. Patricia didn't make it through his third season at the helm of the Lions. He finished his time in Detroit with a record of 13-29-1 and did not make the playoffs once.

The Lions tabbed offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell as interim head coach to lead the Lions into their Week 13 game in Chicago. This may be the beginning of a total rebuild for Detroit as they have not had much success lately with Matthew Stafford and company.

Quinn was hired as general manager in 2016 after a successful stint with the New England Patriots as a front office executive. Patricia will most certainly be on the shortlists this offseason for defensive coordinator jobs, but his time as an NFL head coach is likely over for now.

Quinn will likely have to prove himself again as a member of a front office before getting another shot at running the day-to-day operations for an NFL franchise again.

Dolphins Looking For Fitzmagic Again

The Miami Dolphins are handing the reins back to quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for their Week 12 contest against the winless New York Jets. Rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was downgraded to "doubtful" on Saturday with a thumb injury, opening the starting job back up to Fitzpatrick. Reid Sinnett has been promoted off the practice squad to back up Fitzpatrick on Sunday.

Fitzpatrick opened the season as the Dolphins' starting quarterback and guided them to a 3-3 record before being benched in favor of the rookie, Tagovailoa. Fitzpatrick will face one of his many former teams in the Jets, a team he started 27 games for in 2015 and 2016. He will be tasked with keeping the Dolphins in a tight AFC Wild Card race.
